Taipei City New Children’s Amusement Park will open Dec. 16, providing the young and young at heart with an opportunity to enjoy large doses of pure and unadulterated fun.

Featuring 13 newly installed attractions such as flying swings, a Ferris wheel, pirate ship, rollercoaster and tree house, the 5-hectare park in Shihlin takes over the mantle of city entertainment from Taipei Children’s Recreation Center.

First opened in 1934 during the Japanese colonial era (1895-1945), iconic TCRC at Yuanshan was operated by Taipei City Government from January 1991 until its closure in July.

Taipei City Mayor Hau Lung-bin said the TCAP is the only publicly owned and operated park in Taiwan. The entrance fee for adults and children will be kept at NT$30 (US$1) and NT$15, respectively, with additional charges for certain attractions and facilities, he added.

“Spend the least while enjoying the most is my philosophy for visitors to the park.”

According to TCG’s Education Department, admission fees and purchases at the park’s restaurants and retail outlets can be made using EasyCard.

“We expect the park to be a big success and plan to eventually connect it with peripheral facilities and create a recreation paradise for children,” Hau said. (SSC-JSM)
